Contribute to clients and the firm

What’s it like to work at Roschke & Wall? We’re a family-focused firm that understands the importance of work-life balance and flexibility when it comes to working outside of normal business hours and from home, when needed. Don’t just take our word for it. The following is a look at why Chris Baldoz is a proud team member:

Q. Why do you work at Roschke & Wall?
A. I really like the people I work with. I especially admire the partners and hope to become one someday. I have also learned more on the job than in my classes.

Q. How would you describe the culture of the firm?
A. Motherly. This tone is set by the partners who are caring, professional and realistic.

Q. Do you get feedback on your performance?
A. Yes. Not only are people happy to share good news, they are also not afraid to tell you how you can improve.

Q. Do people work together as a team?
A. Everyone, and I mean everyone, works very hard. Even in times of high stress, they put their heads down and push through it. If at any time someone is feeling overwhelmed with work, there is always someone to help out in a pinch. This team is selfless and never complains.

Q. Are you able to balance work and still have a personal life?
A. The ability to create my own schedule and work when and where I can continues to be a great benefit. They recognize I have other priorities to juggle.

Q. What is the best part of your job?
A. We’re not afraid to have fun. Today, funny enough, we had lunch with other accounting firms in the building. Throughout the year we go out for quarterly birthday lunches and do fun things like go-karting. We even closed the office early to go see “The Accountant” at the movie theatre.

Q. What makes you most rewarded on the job?
A. I feel like I am a contributing something of value to the partners, other staff or clients. Despite my inexperience, I feel like my opinion is worth something.

Q. What’s your typical day look like?
A. I am essentially the bridge between the clients and the partners, and my job is to make both of their lives easier. All the work I do, except individual tax returns during tax season, is for small businesses. I handle “behind-the-scenes” aspects of a business like monthly bookkeeping, payroll processing, sales tax payments, financial statement prep, and much more.

Q. Do you interact with clients?
A. On a typical day I communicate with clients directly to ensure their work is complete and concise. That way the partners can focus on providing planning and advisory services.

Q. Why should others consider applying at Roschke & Wall?
A. If you don’t want to feel like another meaningless cog in the machine, this is a great firm to be a part of. In school, the “Big Four” accounting firms are always put on this pedestal and not enough light is shed on smaller, local firms. However, at Roschke & Wall I learn at my own pace, everyone answers my questions (I have a lot of them sometimes) and I am much stronger today than when I first started.
